What are the different immigration stamps in Ireland?
Ireland uses a system of immigration stamps to define the conditions of a non-EEA national's permission to remain in the State. Each stamp type grants different rights regarding employment, study, and residency. The main stamp types are as follows.
Stamp 1 is issued to non-EEA nationals who have an employment permit. It allows the holder to work only for the employer and in the occupation specified on the permit. Stamp 1G is issued to graduates of Irish third-level institutions under the Third Level Graduate Scheme. Stamp 2 is issued to non-EEA students attending a full-time course on the Interim List of Eligible Programmes (ILEP), allowing limited work of up to 20 hours per week during term and 40 hours during holidays. Stamp 3 allows the holder to remain in Ireland but does not permit employment. Stamp 4 allows the holder to work without an employment permit and reside in Ireland. It is granted to various categories including spouses of Irish nationals, refugees, and those with long-term residency. Stamp 5 is granted to those with permission to remain without condition as to time. Stamp 6 is granted to dual citizens.
